CAD/CAM Services

We offer full CAD/CAM support working to a wide range of drawing standards using state of the art technology. With a dedicated design office, skilled staff and direct data transfer to shopfloor machinery, EDL have the expertise and experience to turn your CAD files into finished products with the maximum efficiency and minimum cost.

We can import and export most formats including IGES, DWG, DXF, STEP, and DRG files.

Technology

EDL are currently operating OncCNC's CAD/CAM system ONECNCXR3 which offers a wide range of capabilities in 3, 4 and 5 axis machining ranging from manual tool-path creation and editing to fully automated Hole Feature Based Machining. The programming flexibility extends to a comprehensive set of roughing and finishing options that can be applied to any type of input geometry. Our CAD/CAM software can use both 2D parts profiling as well as solid models. CAD/CAM advantages include:

  • High speed toolpathsfor 2D and 3D machining for more consistent cutting conditions
  • Automatically machine flat areas using smooth entry, exit and cut motion
  • Feature based milling for hole making with automated feature detection
  • Boring, drilling, threading, grooving and parting functions
  • Full compound and 4th axis capability
  • Open and machine a solid model directly
  • Set feed rates for desired finish quality
  • Intelligent roughing of internal and external diameters
  • Smooth automated clean circle milling
  • High speed scallop cutting
  • High speed pencil tracing to remove material from a previous finish pass

Tooling Design

EDL carry out inhouse design of tooling for investment, sand and gravity casting

Examples

Below are a number of screen shots from our CAD/CAM system.

Using computers to model prototypes before manufacture we can save time and reduce costs by downloading IGES files directly to our CadCam Systems.
