Marine environments create particular challenges for component designers, often having to balance aesthetics against the need to tolerate particularly harsh operating environments and high levels of mechanical stress.
Located in the heart of one of the U.K’ largest sailing and powerboat communities, Engineering & Developments has developed strong relationships with many marine manufacturers and restorers, working closely with them at the specification stage to ensure that the correct materials and manufacturing processes are used.
With extensive experience in casting yellow and non ferrous metals, including marine grade bronzes, we are well placed to meet the requirements of the industry. We have considerable experience in machining these materials, as well as stainless steels, plastics and specialist alloys like Monel and Inconel. Examples include winch frames, turnbuckles, gimbals, keels, stabilisers, handrails and cleats.
Engineering & Developments operates an AS9100 accredited quality system and has in house NDT and Heat Treatment capability, allowing it to respond promptly and effectively to the needs of marine vessel manufacturers and restorers.
EDL hold the BS EN 9100:2009 accreditation and operate a dedicated quality control service for the manufacture of casting products and components. The inspection department which is staffed by five permanent highly skilled and experienced engineers, is fully equipped to handle all dimensional inspection processes, as well as facilities for non destructive testing as below.
Depending on your requirements, we can offer a wide range of inspection programmes to suit the product.Full Details
